Heritage Hotel · Mosman
The luxury case for The Albert Hotel.

The intimate property blends period details with modern luxury, a short stroll from Balmoral Beach and the harbour foreshore.
Intimate heritage grandeur with harbourside charm
2 to 3 nights
The Albert and Cramley Heritage Suites at 65 sqm each are among Sydney's most characterful hotel rooms, with period details that cannot be replicated in new builds.
The Albert occupies one of two nearly identical freestanding residences constructed in 1885 by Newtown carriage builders James and John Kearey. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Sheerin and Hennessy, the building shares its origins with the famous Curlew Camp, where Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and other Heidelberg School artists created some of Australian art's most celebrated works.
Abandoned and left to deteriorate for years, the property was meticulously restored to its current state as a six-suite boutique hotel. The restoration preserved original heritage features while introducing modern comforts, creating something that feels more like a private residence than a conventional hotel.

All six suites are individually designed, drawing on the building's Victorian Italianate character. The flagship Albert and Cramley Heritage Suites are the most generous at over 65 sqm, featuring bespoke Super King beds, separate lounge areas, cast-iron freestanding baths in a private bay off the bedroom, and ensuite bathrooms with dual rain showers.
The Boronia and Rabone Heritage Suites add enclosed balcony annexes to the mix, while all rooms share the same commitment to quality: 100% cotton linens, custom pillows, premium Leif amenities, Smart TVs, minibars and Nespresso machines. Plush bathrobes and slippers come standard.
The Albert's on-site restaurant serves breakfast through to an all-day menu. Morning options range from eggs Benedict and buttermilk pancakes to avocado on sourdough with heirloom tomatoes. The all-day menu centres on quality seasonal produce: grazing boards with Meredith Dairy goat feta and cloth-aged cheddar, followed by house desserts.
Private event dining is available for groups of eight or more, with canapé and grazing packages that suit rehearsal dinners, after-parties or intimate celebrations.
The Albert earns its place not through scale but through character. Six suites in a genuine 1885 building, each room carrying the weight and warmth of Victorian craftsmanship that simply cannot be manufactured. The Mosman location puts you in one of Sydney's most desirable residential neighbourhoods, with Balmoral Beach, harbour foreshore walks and Taronga Zoo all within minutes.
This is a hotel for guests who value heritage authenticity and residential quiet over a long list of facilities. If a cast-iron bath in a room with 140 years of history sounds like your kind of evening, The Albert delivers exactly that.
