Sea Dragon Lodge

Kangaroo Island has its share of luxury lodges, but Sea Dragon operates on a different principle entirely. Spread across 250 acres of coastal bushland on the Dudley Peninsula, with 600 metres of private ocean frontage and a secluded beach, the property is less hotel and more wildlife conservancy that happens to have beautiful rooms. Two thirds of the land is a designated protected habitat, and the result is an Australian safari lodge experience where kangaroos graze outside your deck, echidnas shuffle through the scrub, and a resident pod of up to 40 dolphins visits the bay. Every room faces the ocean, and every room has a deck from which you can watch the wildlife and the weather move across the water. The Deluxe Ocean View Rooms (around 30 square metres) are nestled among trees where wildlife sightings are plentiful. Premium Ocean View Rooms add five square metres and the option of accessible bathrooms. The Superior Ocean View Suites (45 to 50 square metres) have a larger lounge area and easy access to the restaurant, and can accommodate a small family. The standout is the Luxury Ocean View Villa: 85 to 90 square metres with a separate bedroom, expansive lounge, large deck, and an outdoor bath positioned to listen to the sounds of the sea. Styling varies between rooms, with each capturing the essence of either land or sea.
